Exciting opportunity, The Wren School is now recruiting 7 new teachers!
Our Opening Week was such a success!
Our open mornings and evening have proven to be a huge success. The Wren School opened its doors and welcomed in excess of 250 Year 5 or 6 students and their parents to our school. Informal feedback is that the parents were impressed by all that we have to offer; the contributions of our students and the Friends of Wren ensured that our visitors recognised that The Wren School is a local school for the local community.
Parent Governor Election Announcement
We have received a total of 4 nominations for the two parent governor vacancies. As the number of nominations received has exceeded the number of vacancies, a secret ballot will be held.
The following timetable applies:
- Ballot papers (one per parent/guardian) will be dispatched via ‘pupil post’, along with candidates’ statements, on Tuesday 22nd September.
- Closing date for the receipt of ballot papers is Tuesday 29th September at 4pm.
- Date of the count of ballot papers is Tuesday 29th September at 4pm at the school (candidates are invited to attend).
- All parents are notified of the result on Wednesday 30th September.
Each parent or guardian is entitled to vote. Whilst ballot papers will not be individually numbered, the total number issued and received back as completed will be recorded. The standard issue will be two ballot papers to each family. Only original ballot papers either delivered to the school in person, by ‘pupil post’ or by Royal Mail will be accepted.
If you wish to receive any voting papers by Royal Mail instead of ‘pupil post’, please email [email protected] and [email protected], giving your name and address, the name of your child, and how many of the allotted two papers this request applies to.
Number 10 Downing Street firmly behind Nils Franke of The Wren School team!
Nils Franke, Director of The Wren School Single Academy Trust, attended a reception at Number 10 Downing Street on Tuesday to represent The Wren School. It’s nearly three years since our group of parents got together to open a new school in the central West Reading area. The parent group has grown and changed during this time to reflect the needs of the project, but the team’s commitment has never wavered.
Prime Minister David Cameron was there with Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education: Both made short speeches to the assembled representatives of the new Free Schools which will open this month as part of the Prime Minister’s commitment to provide 500 Free Schools nationwide in the next five years.
The Prime Minister elaborated on his vision for Free schools to provide more choice of education locally.
The event was a good opportunity to meet with other Free School groups and education providers to share knowledge and ideas.
